June 13, 2024 – Outrageous and unethical! I’ve just sent this letter to New Jersey legislators who are trying to pass a law allowing used car dealers to sell vehicles with hazardous and potentially deadly unrepaired recalls, even when the manufacturers have issued a “do not sell” or “do not drive” directive. This law would also shift legal liability onto consumers and victims. Just last month Nissan issued a Do Not Drive order for 83k of its vehicles with recalled Takata airbags, the same airbag that killed my daughter and more than 34 others. Why would New Jersey legislators side with car dealers and allow the sale of these vehicles if the manufacturer says they’re not safe to drive? Join me in telling these New Jersey legislators: Senate President Nick Scutari, Speaker of the Assembly Craig Coughlin and Assemblyman John DiMaio that residents and consumers will not stand for them protecting corporate profits over the lives of our innocent loved ones. Here’s a photo of Jewel graduating high school. She went on to get her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from Hofstra University. Shortly after she was set to pursue her doctorate degree at Stanford when here life was tragically taken.

Nissan has issued a do not drive order for 84k vehicles, which could contain the most deadly defective Takata airbags, the alphas. Note that these are old defective airbags and that the older the airbag the more unstable and dangerous it becomes. Read Full Article.

Outrageous and unacceptable that negligence and incompetence surrounding the #TakataAirbagRecall continues to proliferate and jeopardize lives. My daughter and at least 35 others have been killed by a #Takata airbag, how many more families will suffer from this preventable tragedy? In my strong opinion, as I have repeatedly stated for nearly a decade, NHTSA, in its refusal to institute automaker compliance standards for the largest auto recall ever (65 million vehicles), is bowing to corporate pressure and failing in its core duties to keep the public safe from these ticking time bombs. How many more automakers and dealers are repeating this same faulty behavior? I passionately feel, unlike certain entities, that it’s important for the public to be aware of this ongoing safety threat.
Tesla Autopilot Recall
It’s been reported that since 2016, at least 35 people have been killed as a result of Tesla’s autopilot, with 18 of those deaths occurring just since 2022. In addition, a total of 62 people have died in incidents where a #Tesla caught fire. Numerous auto safety advocates, including myself, have repeatedly warned of the dangers that Tesla’s and their autonomous vehicles pose. Just recently, Tesla recalled nearly all of their autonomous vehicles made since 2012 because of issues with the self-driving system that has crashed into a semi truck and a fire truck, failed to stop for a school bus and even killed pedestrians among many deadly crashes. I stress the importance of individual and public safety as well as corporate ethical and moral responsibility. #ethics #corporateresponsibility
